We often think to ourselves, “I would really like to lose 10 pounds–I need to go on a diet”. Do you ever think though that perhaps your wardrobe may need to go on a diet? What I mean, is there a lot of extras in your closet that you do not need, do not wear and and do not even like? Extras such as six black shirts, nine denim skirts, and four pink polka dotted scarves? If your answer is, “Well yes, of course”, then maybe your wardrobe needs a diet plan. I don’t know about your but I generally only wear about 25% of what is even in my closet. If that is your case also, maybe we all need to put our closets on a diet!
Putting our wardrobe on a diet is much easier that it sounds and will work easily with your busy lifestyle. There are just a few steps to follow and trust me, this diet plan is much easier that the real “I need to lose some weight” diet plan.
There are just a few general and easy to follow steps to the wardrobe diet plan system.
Step 1: Begin with trying on EVERYTHING in your closet. This is the only way you will really know what fits, what looks best, and what is still in good condition. While you are trying on each item in your closet, ask yourself these questions about each piece of clothing before deciding to keep it.
- Does it make me feel good when I wear it? If your answer is, “Well, I am not sure about that”, then it is probably time to get rid of it.
- Do I actually wear this item? When is the last time I wore it? If you cannot remember the last time you put it on, it is probably time to get rid of it.
- If I were out shopping right now, would I buy this? If the answer is no, then it is probably time to get rid of it.
Once you have asked your self these three questions, you should have a pretty good handle on the items in your closet that you like and want to keep and then those that you do not want to keep. The items that you answered yes to, put back in your closet. The items that you answered no to, you need to get rid of those by either donating them or giving them to a friend that could use them.
