As busy women, occasionally our lives become crazy–how about just about every five minutes!! We are juggling family, career, budgeting, chores, our schedule, our families schedule and after all of that, the dog gets sick and you have to clean that up. We have just become a society of “busyness” and truth be told, we are probably not going to stop all of our busyness any time soon. We just need to develop ways to work with the busyness without losing it every once in a while.
I think when we become so busy, our minds start working overtime and sometimes, negative thoughts and ideas come at us way too fast. It can become overwhelming and hard for us to handle on occasion. When my life becomes a bit too crazy with all of the busyness, I like to turn to the Bible for encouragement and peace.
I have this special list of 20 scriptures that our Bishop’s wife gave to our church a few years ago. I keep this list posted on my pantry door in my kitchen so I can see it and read it everyday. It is a bit worn and tattered and very much loved!
The list has one column titled with emotions that us, as busy women, combat daily. Next to that is another column with the Bible scripture to go along with that emotion. Through these verses, I have been able to overcome feelings of being unloved, feeling like a failure, and my worse one–fear. When you have those crazy and busy times during your day and you are looking for something to help you, just take a moment and refer to these scriptures. There is peace and hope in God’s word.
Please feel free to print these out and post somewhere in your home or office so you can refer to them as often as you help to.
Five Scriptures for Busy Women:
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers. Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Proverbs 3:26 For the LORD will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.
How do you handle all of the time when you life gets crazy and busy? Do you have any favorite scriptures to add to our list? Please let us know in the comment section below.
Thank you for this. I find when I get busy I’m not as committed to starting my day off in prayer. These are great to keep in mind for those moments.
I agree. The more busy we are, the more difficult it is to keep prayer time.
First of all, I love that your definition of the “occasionally” when life gets busy is “every five minutes.” Yes, yes, yes! And I love these Scriptures, especially the description from Proverbs of our foot not being “snared.” What an incredible image: the sure-footedness we can have when we walk with God. I have clung since college to these verses from Psalm 16: “I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” So glad to meet you today via Growing Social Media for Bloggers on Facebook!
